TSE, TSEK and CE: choose the right evidence
Compare TSE and TSEK product certification with CE duties: actual scope, wrong-document cases and responsible decision parties.
Identify the requirement before buying a certificate
TSE product certification concerns conformity to the relevant Turkish standard; TSEK uses a criterion accepted by TSE where the applicable product has no Turkish standard. Confirm the actual product and technical basis with TSE. Neither name removes the separate legal duties for placing that product on its intended market.
CE concerns applicable product legislation and the required conformity assessment. The manufacturer retains the relevant documentation, declaration and marking duties; a notified body participates where the specific route requires it. CE is not a general EU approval certificate, and it must not be affixed to products outside legislation requiring it.
Reject evidence for the wrong obligation
Conditional example: an electrically powered product is offered for an EU market, but the supplier gives only a TSE product certificate. Check applicable product laws, actual model, intended use and assessment route. Read what the TSE certificate covers, then identify the legal evidence still missing. Its presence does not itself complete the CE route.
The reverse comparison also matters: if procurement specifies a particular TSE product certificate, a CE declaration alone does not demonstrate that TSE has certified the specified product. Obtain the exact procurement wording; record the required evidence and ask the purchaser to clarify an ambiguous condition rather than renaming the document.
Prepare separate evidence and keep decision roles clear
Compare holder, product/model, technical basis, manufacturing site and current TSE scope in the official enquiry. For CE, connect applicable requirements and actual product evidence, and check any required body’s designation for that route. A laboratory report, voluntary certificate and manufacturer declaration have different functions.
Kayra may prepare a route comparison and evidence-gap list under contract. TSE makes its certification decision, the manufacturer performs its legal duties, and any required designated body performs its own assessment. A preparation quotation grants neither TSE mark rights nor permission to skip the applicable CE assessment.
