CE assessment process: identify the required evaluation activities
Distinguish product conformity assessment from an ISO audit and plan the actual evaluation and evidence handover.
Find the applicable assessment procedure
A CE assessment is not automatically an annual management-system audit. The applicable product legislation determines whether the route involves manufacturer assessment, product examination, testing, production controls or a notified body. Establish that route before booking an audit. Where procedures offer alternatives, record why the selected option fits the product and manufacturing arrangements.
Prepare a matrix linking each assessment task to the responsible party, required input and expected output. Distinguish a laboratory report, technical-file review and production-related decision. A successful activity does not automatically close another task. Agree how design changes, failed tests and missing supplier records will be handled before the final conformity claim.
A hypothetical finished sample and unfinished production controls
A tested prototype matches the approved drawing, but the planned production line substitutes a critical component and has no change approval record. A prototype pass cannot establish control of the sold configuration. Compare the sample identity, approved bill of materials, production specification and substitution record before treating the report as current evidence.
The next action is to assess whether the substitution affects conformity and the chosen procedure, then obtain justified additional evidence or corrections. If a designated body’s production task applies, contact it through the agreed channel. Do not relabel the unresolved configuration as an audit observation that can simply wait until next year.
Assessment closure and limits
Close tasks using actual records: examination outcomes, reports, corrective actions and any required body decision. The file should identify unresolved limitations and the exact product version assessed. Dates for appointments and corrective work must be distinguished from a promise that marking will be available by a fixed commercial deadline.
Kayra can help organise this preparation and evidence handover. It cannot award an independent conformity decision assigned by law to another body. The manufacturer must establish the required assessment’s completion, keep the supporting documentation and arrange appropriate ongoing production controls before relying on the CE marking.

The records needed to plan the required CE assessment activities depend on the confirmed scope. Current, consistent and traceable information reduces avoidable revisions.
