Choose EMC support: laboratory work, design examination and responsibilities
Compare defined technical deliverables and any chosen notified-body task instead of purchasing a general EMC licence.
Specify which service is being purchased
EMC apparatus can use AnnexII internal production control, or AnnexIII EU-type examination followed by conformity to type. Under the latter choice the manufacturer may limit examination to specified essential-requirement aspects and assess the remaining aspects under AnnexII. A quotation must state the route and scope rather than implying every product requires a third-party certificate.
Distinguish consultant preparation, laboratory evidence and the notified body’s design examination. AnnexIII ModuleB examines technical documentation without examination of a specimen; a laboratory report is a different deliverable. Check actual competence, report ownership, sample/configuration identity and, where relevant, the body’s current EMC designation and task coverage.
Hypothetical case: examination offered for immunity only
A manufacturer proposes EU-type examination for immunity aspects of an industrial communication unit, with emissions handled under internal production control. A provider offers a universal EMC certificate using a body number designated for another product law. Ask for the selected aspects, genuine EMC task scope, examiner, document requirements and separate plan for the remaining requirements.
Reject the inference that a real but unrelated body number authorises this examination or closes emissions work. Identify who provides the technical reports, who examines the design and who establishes overall conformity. The proposed split must leave an evidence trail for every applicable aspect rather than making the unexamined part disappear.
Contract and handover
Agree the controlled design version, operating configurations, technical questions, deliverables and unresolved-item criteria. State whether actual notified-body examination is included or only preparatory assistance. Any laboratory accreditation claim should be checked against its real scope; it does not by itself confer statutory EMC examination authority.
Kayra can coordinate the agreed preparation and technical enquiries. It does not claim to be an EMC notified body or transfer the manufacturer’s conformity responsibility. The next step is a task-specific agreement with access to the resulting evidence and explicit responsibility for the aspects outside a selected examination.
