PPE: Conformity Assessment and Evidence Closure
Assessment follows the equipment and its risks. It is not a generic factory checklist or a promise that every variant will pass.
Fix the assessed design
Confirm the intended risks, category basis, applicable essential requirements and procedure. For Module B, prepare Annex III documentation and specimens representative of the planned production. Describe sizes, materials, accessories and conditions so the body can determine the examination and test programme.
Record the specimen identity and design revision against drawings, test evidence and instructions. Results must concern the actual equipment. A changed design may require further review; do not invent test success or treat a new document date as technical closure.
Case: coating changed after the specimen
Hypothetically, an eye protector's coating changes after its type-examination specimen was supplied. Link the modification to the protection claim, optical properties, drawings and instructions. Notify the body holding the type file when conformity or certificate conditions may be affected, and obtain the applicable review before relying on the old configuration.
For Category III, establish the applicable C2 or D production stage as well as type examination. Track unresolved findings, responsible parties and traceable evidence. The manufacturer’s production must remain consistent with the approved type.
Close findings through the proper actor
The notified body examines and decides within its designated tasks; laboratories provide their specified evidence; the manufacturer owns conformity and production. Neither an action tracker nor a commercial acceptance promise establishes a successful assessment.
Describe any requested Kayra activity precisely and check authority, independence and acceptance conditions. The useful next input is a revision-controlled evidence plan with genuine unresolved findings, not a fabricated completed audit record.
Questions for this purpose
Can a changed coating use the old evidence automatically?
No. Review the actual change and applicable type-document conditions.
Does Module B complete Category III production control?
Generally Article 19 also requires the applicable C2 or D stage, subject to its specific exception.
Can missing tests be replaced by a checklist signature?
No. Required technical evidence must be genuine and applicable.
