Checking machinery CE evidence: declaration, model and body status

Verify a machine’s conformity evidence through the actual model, declaration and any notified-body scope, without promising a universal CE register.

01

Identify the evidence being checked

Start with the machine plate, manufacturer, model, serial number and supplied configuration. Request the declaration and relevant instructions. Distinguish these from a test report, a voluntary certificate or an EC type-examination certificate issued under a particular route.

There is no universal machinery CE certificate lookup proving every machine safe. NANDO identifies notified bodies and their scope; it is not a register of all compliant machines. Verify any certificate directly with its actual issuing body and examine its model and conditions.

02

Compare the delivered machine and declaration

A hypothetical imported machine bears model M2, while the declaration and available report name M1. Ask for traceable variant coverage and a reasoned assessment of the changes. A matching brand or photograph is insufficient to bridge a different model.

Check the applicable law, signature responsibility, intended use, report revision and evidence for installed guards and controls. An apparently complete declaration does not resolve a visible hazardous configuration. Manufacturer and importer questions may need technical investigation rather than a document-only answer.

03

Escalate mismatches to the responsible actor

Keep body notification, certificate status and current conformity as separate checks. A live body listing does not confirm a particular certificate; an unexpired type certificate does not cover unapproved design changes. Public-authority surveillance can still require corrective action.

Kayra can compare supplied product records and identify gaps within agreed work. It cannot authenticate an issuer’s decision or guarantee customs acceptance. For the 2027 transition, distinguish pre-date lawful placement and retained type certificates from a newly supplied machine’s required route.

For “Checking machinery CE evidence: declaration, model and body status”, share the machine function, current model and design revision, intended use, planned EU placement date and available risk or test records. Agreed product preparation work does not replace the manufacturer’s declaration or a legally required notified-body procedure.
