Choosing ETA assessment and preparation providers: check the real product-area competence
Name the competent TAB and distinguish its ETA assessment from laboratory and preparation services. Compare actual product coverage, deliverables and unresolved evidence before accepting an all-inclusive offer.
Identify the assessment partner, not just a service brand
Identify the product and intended use before comparing providers. Use EOTA’s product-area tool and the official TAB designation information linked by the Commission to check the relevant assessment competence. A consultant’s commercial name, a laboratory logo or a general accreditation document does not by itself identify the TAB responsible for an ETA.
Ask who will assess the actual product, which EAD and edition will be considered, and who will decide whether the evidence covers the supplied configuration. The TAB issues the ETA within its competence; EOTA coordinates the EAD network. The consultant can prepare information and coordinate agreed tasks. Keep these responsibilities named separately in the offer.
An offer for a report is not an offer for an ETA
Conditional example: a service offer promises an ETA for a façade bracket kit, but its deliverable is only a test report for an anchor component under a consultant’s cover page. It does not name the assessment TAB or address the bracket, joints and intended installation. The report can be relevant evidence, but the offer has not established assessment and issuance of an ETA for the kit.
Request a corrected scope identifying the product, competent TAB involvement, evidence acceptance and actual outputs. Confirm proposed laboratory work with the assessment partner instead of assuming that every accredited report is accepted for every method and configuration. Do not rename a component report as the kit’s ETA or infer designation from the cover-page logo.
Compare responsibilities and dependencies in the contract
Separate the TAB’s assessment, laboratory work, manufacturer production tasks and preparation deliverables. State exclusions, information needed from the manufacturer, responsibility for closing each gap and the evidence that completes a milestone. Confirm the applicable EAD citation and CPR route: an offer cannot promise issuance before the necessary conditions are fulfilled.
Kayra can compare scope and organise the product and evidence register under an agreed preparation contract. The manufacturer remains responsible for truthful product information, controls and applicable declaration and CE duties. An accepted preparation delivery is not the TAB’s favourable decision. No specific provider designation, universal fee or guaranteed issuance date is claimed here.
