Who issues ETA and manages the assessment? Find the competent TAB and separate the roles
ETA is issued by the competent Technical Assessment Body. Distinguish TAB assessment, the EOTA EAD network, Commission citation and manufacturer CE duties; an FPC certificate does not become an ETA.
The product-area TAB is the assessment and issuance contact
The Commission identifies the manufacturer’s request to a TAB for the relevant product area and the TAB’s issuance of ETA on an EAD basis. Use EOTA’s partner tool and the official designation information linked by the Commission to identify the actual competence. A general provider directory or company logo is not proof of designation for the product area.
Provide a detailed description of the product, variants, intended uses and characteristics when contacting the assessment partner. Confirm the role and scope before presenting reports or agreeing assessment work. Kayra’s enquiry form is a request for preparation support; it does not submit the manufacturer’s official ETA request or give Kayra authority to issue an ETA.
EOTA, the Commission and conformity bodies perform different tasks
EOTA coordinates the assessment-body network for EAD development. The TAB handles the manufacturer’s assessment contact and the EAD procedure where needed; the Commission publishes references and the applicable route sets citation conditions. An EAD download and an entry in a contact directory are not themselves an ETA for a particular manufacturer and configuration.
The manufacturer provides accurate product and production information and fulfils the applicable declaration and CE duties. Laboratories report actual test work. Conformity bodies perform the tasks assigned by the relevant system where required. Do not assume that the organisation conducting a conformity task is automatically the competent TAB for the ETA product assessment.
A production-control certificate does not answer the ETA question
Conditional example: a supplier offers a factory production-control certificate and points to an organisation’s NANDO presence as proof that the product already has an ETA. Check what the document actually covers: production-control certification and a product’s technical assessment are different outputs. The body’s relevant role, product area and actual ETA reference still need confirmation.
Request the ETA and its issued product scope if the supplier claims one exists; do not rename the production-control certificate or infer an ETA from an organisation’s listing alone. Kayra can organise these questions and document comparison. The actual TAB makes its assessment and issuance decision; no named organisation’s current designation, existing product ETA or guaranteed outcome is claimed here.

Scope and decision verification
Kayra Patent supports requirement analysis, document preparation and process coordination. Conformity or certification decisions belong to the independent body or public authority authorised under the applicable law and programme. Kayra cannot replace that decision or guarantee a certificate. Verify the issuer, scope, dates and any official register entry.
