ETA cost and timescale: quote variants, evidence and the applicable EAD route
Estimate an ETA project from confirmed product scope, EAD route and missing evidence. Separate TAB, laboratory and preparation quotations; the EOTA explanation of no extra EAD-development charge does not make the whole assessment free.
Confirm the assessment scope before comparing a package price
Confirm the supplied product, intended use, variants, applicable assessment basis and current citation regime with a competent TAB. Identify usable reports and actual gaps. The words “ETA package” do not define which performance claims, configurations or further work the offer covers. Ask which tasks are included and which remain for laboratories, the manufacturer or another contracted party.
EOTA’s published EAD explanation under CPR305/2011 says EAD development in the described procedure comes at no extra charge. This does not make TAB assessment, testing or consultancy preparation free. Separate their actual quotations and confirm the applicable current route; do not present that older explanation as a universal fee schedule for the new CPR or invent a separate standard EAD-development fee.
Variant coverage changes the real work
Conditional example: the request includes two bracket materials and three fixing options, but the available report covers one fixing configuration only. List the real differences and claims; a shared kit name does not make each combination supported. Ask the TAB which evidence can justify the proposed coverage and which additional work is necessary.
Quote the confirmed assessment, evidence and preparation tasks for that actual variant range. Do not assume a mandatory test for every combination or silently apply a one-configuration report to all variants. Record exclusions and the cost effect of expanding or reducing the supplied scope. An orderly variant spreadsheet cannot replace the evidence the TAB needs to accept the coverage.
Plan dependencies instead of promising a delivery date
Use actual milestones: product and route confirmed, evidence accepted or gaps identified, required work performed, citation conditions checked, and assessment completed. Current Commission guidance requires the relevant EAD citation before ETA issuance under the new route, including a newly developed EAD. A draft EAD or a booked test date does not establish when all prerequisites will be complete.
Kayra quotes agreed comparison, gap tracking and coordination outputs; the manufacturer remains responsible for truthful product information and implemented production work. TAB decides assessment and ETA issuance within its competence; laboratories complete their agreed tasks. Revisit scope, charges and dates when evidence, variants or route changes. No fixed total price, universal project duration or guaranteed issue date is asserted.
