FPC cost and timescale: price the actual scope and missing work
Separate preparation, factory improvements, tests and assigned body work. Product range, sites and evidence acceptance determine the quote and unresolved schedule dependencies.
Price a defined scope, not a certificate name
Identify product range, intended use, specification, applicable assessment route, sites and production operations. Review whether genuine controls and records already exist. A quote for a single established factory cannot automatically cover a new product family, additional location or unresolved performance evidence.
Separate preparation deliverables, the manufacturer’s implementation work, sampling and laboratory work, and the designated body’s assessment or surveillance costs. Specify included outputs, excluded tasks, who contracts each external party and what changes trigger review. No universal fee, compulsory package or guaranteed issue date is established by the term FPC.
An additional curing site changes the work to be assessed
Conditional example: a producer asks for a one-factory quote while curing part of the production at another site. Describe the actual operation, control responsibility and records at each location. Determine how the applicable specification and body procedure treat that activity; neither common ownership nor the original factory’s file automatically includes the second site.
Identify additional control review, usable evidence, missing records and any external assessment needed before revising the offer. Keep the original quote’s boundary explicit. Do not describe unperformed second-site work as included or assign it a fixed surcharge without knowing the real tasks and external terms.
Link dates to readiness and decisions
The programme depends on scope clarification, implementation, available production records, laboratory acceptance and results, body scheduling and resolution of relevant findings. A completed consultant draft does not complete these dependencies. State which input or decision blocks the next step and who must provide it.
Kayra can propose preparation milestones and coordinate responses; the manufacturer performs controls and the body retains its assigned decision. If the product, site or evidence changes, reassess effort and dates against the new scope. Confirm current quotes with the parties doing the work instead of presenting a general web price as their approved tariff.
