Choose GAR support: product tasks, notified-body scope and deliverables
Compare real GAR tasks and complete production deliverables before selecting a gas-appliance support provider.
What the offered service must cover
A gas-appliance support offer should identify the product, gas/pressure variants, destination, proposed conformity route and parties preparing technical evidence, conducting examinations and overseeing production conformity. A type-examination certificate and the selected production-stage evidence are different deliverables. An offer should explain both instead of selling an unspecified CE certificate.
Check the body’s actual notification under Regulation (EU) 2016/426 for the requested tasks through official notification information. Accreditation or notification under an electrical-products law alone does not establish GAR authority. A consultancy can organise preparation, but its invoice or certificate template is not a notified-body decision.
Hypothetical case: an unrelated notification and type-only offer
A supplier of domestic water heaters receives an offer citing a body number for another regulation and covering only one prototype, although several gas-valve variants will enter series production. Request the actual GAR designation/tasks, variant limits, sample requirements and proposed C2, D, E or F production work, as applicable.
Reject a promise that the quoted prototype document automatically clears every version. Obtain a corrected scope showing who examines the type, who performs the chosen production tasks and how model changes or additional gas conditions are treated. Preserve unresolved questions rather than disguising them as included service.
Written responsibilities before purchase
Agree access to controlled drawings, risk analysis, reports, complete certificates with annexes, production records and instructions. Name the responsible manufacturer and signatory, communication channels and excluded installation work. Compare fees only after these deliverables and assumptions are written; no universal completion time follows from a body logo.
Kayra can help prepare this scope/responsibility schedule and coordinate the agreed technical file. It does not claim GAR notification or guarantee the body’s approval. The next step is a product-specific corrected offer with a traceable type-and-production plan, not acceptance of an unrelated designation or a voluntary certificate.
