PED: Cost and Project Schedule Drivers
PED cost and timing depend on the actual technical work. A useful quotation separates equipment evidence, testing and any required external assessment instead of selling one universal package.
Provide the inputs that change the quotation
State the equipment type, intended market, fluid, PS, temperature, V or DN, manufacturing quantity and proposed category/module. Include current drawings, calculations, material records, joining evidence and planned final-assessment arrangements. Explain whether the product is a prototype, a one-off unit or serial production.
Separate record collection, engineering or test work, joining approvals and the notified body's applicable procedure. The directive does not prescribe a universal consultancy tariff or project duration. Missing classification inputs prevent a reliable assessment scope, even when the vessel dimensions are known.
Use a conditional manufacturing schedule
Hypothetically, a vessel's nozzle is moved after calculations and test arrangements have been agreed. The revised drawing may affect local stresses, manufacture and examination access. Record the change, determine what evidence must be revisited and update the schedule before treating the former plan as still valid.
Milestones should identify the evidence and responsible party: design release, material availability, joining readiness, required examination, final assessment and declaration. A test slot or quotation acceptance is not proof that conformity assessment is complete. Allow for actual corrections and any required reassessment.
Compare totals and responsibilities
Ask whether the price covers all stated variants, additional samples, retests, travel, third-party fees and changed documents. Identify which items are conditional and what triggers them. A low document-package price may exclude the technical work needed to demonstrate the equipment's conformity.
A request to Kayra should specify the activity and evidence available; acceptance depends on the permitted role and impartiality. No guaranteed positive decision, universal completion time or PED renewal fee is stated here. The manufacturer retains responsibility for the final product and declaration.
Questions for this purpose
Can cost be fixed from pressure alone?
No. Equipment type, fluid, dimensions, category, procedure and existing evidence affect the work.
Does a scheduled test mean CE can be applied that day?
No. All applicable conformity obligations must be complete.
Will a design change affect the budget?
It can require revised calculations, manufacture, examination or assessment; evaluate the actual change.

PED enquiry: scope and activity
Submit the current configuration, quantity, available records and intended milestones. Ask for separate scope and cost assumptions for technical work and external assessment.
